Get Rich in 10 Simple Steps
Believe it or not, the vast majority of Americans (and indeed people from other parts of the world) are surviving on paychecks.
This means that if the breadwinner in any given household loses their source of income, the household will plunge into a financial crisis.
Truth is, everyone is yearning for financial freedom. And the only way to achieve your financial freedom is to get rich.
Now, different people have different definitions of being rich. For some, it’s having countless boatloads of cash in the bank and for others, it’s just having enough to live a fulfilling life and save for emergencies.
So, how do you get rich? Is it an achievable dream?
In this article, I’m giving away 10 simple steps anyone at any age can use to get rich. Come along!
1. Cultivate a Millionaire Mindset
It all begins in the mind, for what the mind can achieve and believe you can achieve.
If you want to be rich, then you must ingrain it in your mind, regardless of your age right now.
We have all heard and read the success stories of the world’s richest people.
Warren Buffett, for example, never for once doubted that he will get rich!
He simply started his journey to the billionaire’s club by believing he can do it. You too can do it, if only you let your mind embrace the idea.
2. Set Smart Financial Goals
Plotting a journey towards wealth without goals is like building a 10 story building with an elaborate blueprint.
In short, you must set financial goals, and they must be realistic and measurable.
How much money (in cash) do you want to have in a savings account by the end of the year? 50,000? 150,000? 1 million?
Regardless of the amount, having a goal sets you in motion.
3. Get to Work
Unless you hit the lottery or inherit insanely vast amounts of money from your parents or grandparents, you have to work to make money!
It doesn’t matter the job you currently hold. You just have to put in the hours, maintain the ‘get rich mentality,’ and good tidings will surely come your way.
If you own a small business, focus on growing it instead of using the profits on improving your personal life.
If you are in formal employment, focus on enhancing your education and improving your occupational skills. This way, you will be able to climb the career ladder and land higher paying positions that can make your rich.
4. Make Use of Your Talent
If you realize you have a talent that can earn you a lot of money, it’s time you put it into good use. Think you have top football skills? Hit the pitch and soon you could be showcasing your talent in the NFL.
Good at basketball? The NBA could be waiting for you to conquer it!
Got a knack for coming up with great ideas? Maybe it’s your time to develop the next great invention that will make you a billionaire.
5. Learn the Art (or Science) of Being Frugal
One of the many freedoms that come with being rich is spending money without a single care in the world!
However, until you are rich, you have to learn to be frugal.
How good are you at saving money? Can you stick to a budget? Can you forgo a movie or dinner out just to save a few bucks?
Before you are rich, it doesn’t make any financial sense to spend money without a plan. Being frugal will help you set money aside, which will, in time, grow into a big sum you can make to make a profitable investment.
6. Pay Off Existing Debt, and Avoid Future Debt
If you want to get rich, you need to avoid debt.
Put simply, debt is the single biggest hurdle to obtaining financial freedom. If you’re currently in debt, it’s time to work out an effective repayment plan?
Are there high-interest loans that you should prioritize paying off? Do you have credit card debts you can consolidate?
If you think your debts are pushing you to the limit, approach your lenders and ask them to work out a new repayment plan that meets your financial needs.
Once you are out of debt, do all you can to stay out of it! Avoid making unnecessary credit card applications.
7. It’s Never Too Early or Too Late to Make an Investment
Buffett made his first investment at age 11. Today, at 80 years, he is still investing!
Investing is one of the best and surest ways to make good money.
You must, however, do your research and put your money into the right investment. If you fancy investment in real estate, for instance, you must evaluate how the real estate marketing will be looking in the next 10-15 years, especially if you’re in it for the long-term.
There are hundred of investment opportunities out there. You just have to find the one that works for your money.
8. Have Multiple Income Streams
While people have gotten rich from pursuing lucrative careers or investing in a single industry, you should diversify your income streams.
Running a company that is doing well? Don’t stop there. Invest somewhere else.
Making millions of dollars from your sporting talent? A career-ending injury is always a match away!
Diversifying your income ensures you will continue earning money if one stream goes south.
9. Fall in Love With What You Do, and Stop Impressing People
Show me a billionaire who doesn’t love what he or she does and I will show you a green sky.
The point is, passion plays a crucial role in obtaining financial success. The more you’re passionate about your job or business, the more you will be motivated to work harder to make more money.
Don’t buy property or invest in some industries because your friends are doing it, or because you want to prove you are doing it better.
You will burn out sooner or later, and your money could go drain.
10. Read Get Rich Books, Watch Get Rich Shows
If you want to become a scientist, you have no business reading books on painting.
If you want to get rich, you have to keep enhancing your business and financial knowledge.
The best way to do this to reading books and watching TV shows on money management!
